Video - Centrifuge training . Out of 11,425 candidates , the Final Four selected had to go to StarCity for a month training before only two will be chosen . This is the mini-centrifuge where it spins you upto 9G loads - imagine 9 times your body weight pressing on your chest and you just cannot breathe . You tend to lose consciousness because the blood does not flow to your brain during those times . Haha - Best feeling ever . The trick is to strain every 3 seconds so that your calve muscles squeeze and pump the blood to the brain ... This scenario occurs during takeoff and landing of the Soyuz rocket . I experienced 12G’s during my Emergency landing back then . I know all astronauts dread to be in the centrifuge me included . It’s not a great feeling to be in the centrifuge but we don’t have a choice .... Love As Always . PS - The Russians do have the biggest Centrifuge in the world in StarCity which we tried at the later stage . PSS - Spasibo = TQ

Pic - AlQuran in space . I brought along 2 AlQuran during my journey to space . One was given by my mom who was worried of my safety and reminded me to read the Quran onboard the ISS . My mom has always been worried of me the day I joined the Angkasawan Programme . She actually lost 10kg during my 11 day stay in space . My late father - AlFatihah to him has always believed I would be the one chosen right from the very beginning but was in shocked after seeing my launch in Baikonaur . MasyaAllah - The sacrifices of both my parents were unbelievable which gave me the strength to face the challenges on setting foot in space . And surely they are everything to me... Good Morning Everyone . PS - The AlQuran will always be in my safekeeping reminding me of every step to become an Astronaut . Love As Always ...

Video - Winter survival training . One of our biggest training is winter survival . We were at approximately 200 km from StarCity in the forest and the temperature was close to -20 degrees freezingly cold . The three-of-us crew were left in the tiny Soyuz with our spacesuit on and we had 3 days to do whatever it takes to survive . I remembered chopping down woods every 3 hours just to keep warm . One of our crew ‘fractured’ his leg and we had to carry him for a few kilometres before a helicopter rescued us . We were observed by psychologists through our communication radio at all times . This survival is important in case the Soyuz undergo emergency landing into the sea , snow , mountains etc and the need to survive before the rescue team are able to reach us . Overall it was total exhaustion and I lost 3 kg during those stint . Definitely a good way to lose weight . Just sharing ... Good Night Everyone ...

Pic - UKM in space . In space all the blood from your legs will gush up into your face - which is known as the “ moon face “ - flush , congested , rounded ... After being 3 days in space your muscles start to shrink in size , your bones become osteoporotic . Many physiological changes start to occur on your body . One day in space is equivalent to 5 times Chest X-Ray due to the exposure of radiation . Hence the reason you need to be fit physically , mentally & psychologically . It’s very rare for astronauts to get sick since the Russian doctors really take good care of us . Even a flu before a launch will disallowed you from going to space ... Good Morning Everyone ... Just sharing . PS - UKM is probably the 1st University to ever been to space . How amazing is that ? 😘 Hebat UKM ....

Video - Training in StarCity . There’s so much to learn on becoming an astronaut . Firstly you need to master the language as all the classes , manuals even the panel buttons on the Soyuz are in Russian . The training involves not just physical but more of the theories of rockets , trajectories, navigation, astronomy and many more which was new to me . And we were graded every month with exams by instructors . Everything needs to be perfect as you cannot make mistakes in space . The primary crew of three spend a lot of time working together to ensure the mission a success . In StarCity where all the astronauts train , they have the mock-up of the Soyuz and the ISS . One needs to know every single buttons and panels in case of emergencies . I had my commander to thank Yuri Malenchenko - one of the most experienced Cosmonaut with 6 missions and even the 1st to marry in space who guided me throughout . Certainly one of the best memories ... the struggle is real but it’s all worth it . Good Morning Everyone . PS - The Sokol suit itself weigh 9.5kg and is specifically made for the astronaut . But in space it doesn’t matter - even an elephant floats in space . PSS - Wish I would have thought about the wedding in space - 😀

Pic - The inside of a Soyuz . You can’t be claustrophobic - fear of confined space if you want to be an astronaut . I learned that the hard way during my training in Russia . I do feel restless and agitated each time they placed me in a small space sitting still for hours not being able to move . I feel like screaming my lungs out each time . I’m the type of person who can’t sit still even for 5 minutes max and has to move around . But you just have to overcome them . Think of your loved ones and my heartbeat will calm me down . That’s what I did ... We normally stay in the Soyuz for 2 days after the launch before docking on the ISS . You can actually reach ISS faster even for several hours but more heat combustion is needed which is not cost effective . To be an astronaut you must be fearless and overcome your fear . My other fear was heights - Haha I’m human too ... So I’d go bungee jumping every 3 months just to get used to it . And now I’m only afraid of Allah and nothing else ... Alhamdulillah ... So what’s your fear ...? I can help you to overcome them .You just have to face them again and again till you are comfortable with it ... Good Morning Everyone. Love As Always ...

Menarikkan? Hanya mereka yang benar-benar fit sahaja layak untuk bergelar angkasawan ni kan? Iyalah, latihan yang dilakukan memang menguji kekuatan mental dan fizikal.
